I received this brooch as a gift in 2010. It is absolutely stunning. I get compliments from friends and strangers alike everytime I wear it.
It's quite heavy so be careful what type of fabric you pin it to. It works fine on my wool peacoat.
I have yet to try the brooch as a pendant but I will eventually.

This brooch is stunning! It is larger and heavier than any of my other brooches. The metal of this item is darker than pictured... not silver tone, not gold tone, but more of a "gun metal" tone which gives this brooch a vintage look. The crystals are darker than expected. On the back, the actual pin apparatus is too flimsy for this heavy brooch and arrived with a large curve in it. The point of the pin was very difficult to remove from the catch as if the opening is just a tad too small. The other side of the pin came out very easily from the part that holds it in the back rendering this item useless as far as wearing it as a brooch. Disappointed and dismayed, I was convinced that I was going to return it. I then noticed that this beautiful brooch can be worn as a pendant! I was very happy and excited to see a very large and solid necklace holder. My gold-toned, 1/4" wide, 26" long rope necklace went through it very easily and is perfect for this item. I am now going to keep this brooch because of the pendant feature. I am looking forward to wearing it during the cooler months over a coat, sweater, or scarf. This pendant will be beautiful with any clothing color.
